Last week's Batam trip: 4 out of 5 stars. Last star not given cos it was drizzling on my last day there so I couldn't ride motorbike!!!
Actually I didn't place very high hopes on my short hol there. Cos it was so last minute, I only decided to follow Evi the night before we left. Plus I've been there for a number of times, most of the shopping malls have been "conquered" by me.

This time it's slightly different. Maybe it's because I've grown up, I don't really fancy stuff like LOADS OF companionship, and I don't want to hold on certain fond memories, hoping I can relive them everytime I visit the island. After all, why are they called memories? Cos they belong to the past.

So I say, every trip to Batam is a brand new experience. I took a ferry to Harbour Bay instead of the usual Batam Centre, and I realise the ferry ride can be shortened to 45min instead of the usual 1hr. Furthermore Harbour Bay is nearer to Evi's house.

We went shopping for 4 days consecutively, sometimes by ourselves, sometimes with Hendra and Ah Hui. Ah Boy was having exams, otherwise we'll have more stories to talk about :) In Batam, you can't go anywhere without a car, cos it seems to be their only mode of transport. So I was quite happy that Evi took the trouble to fetch the brothers before we went out.
There's Seoul Garden in Batam!! For students it's less than sgd10 with free flow of drinks! Although they have lesser variety, we still had chicken, beef, pork, french fries, rice, curry, salad, ice kachang, ice cream etc.
We went to the newest shopping centre called Nagoya Hill! Oh man I had a big shock myself cos it's hard to imagine Batam having such a nice shopping mall with beautiful infrastructure. (the feeling is like Bugis)
In case you didn't know, Batam has cinemas too. One and only I guess. And I had the honour of watching a movie there. You'll never guess it, each ticket costs only about sgd3.50. Plus when it's the weekdays, you practically own the entire theatre. You can throw popcorns everywhere, sit any posture you like, laugh as loud as you want, since there's less than 50 people watching the same show as you.
Evi and I bought twin clothes! Think we must have looked comical on the day we paraded the streets in white and black. I must mention Ah Liang kor kor (Evi's brother) has been super nice to drive us around after his work, and playing cards with us till 4am in the morning.
Visited their restaurant (Golden Prawn) on my last day. Had lunch there before I boarded the ferry. I bet it was their black pepper crab that gave me that sore throat and cough. I wished it didn't drizzle! Otherwise I can talk a walk around their hotel nearby and ride on the motorbike around the area! Because of the rain I couldn't even say bye to the turtles! And I forgot to visit the sharks.
Did I mention, their neoprints only cost sgd4???!! Being a typical Singaporean, of course take as many photos as I can lah!! :) We divided the photos among the 4 of us, otherwise the post will be flooded with our faces.
My younger brother Yong Hui is gonna kill me if I continue to hog the computer. So I hafta click Publish Post before my head rolls. Good bye! :) :)

i left my footprints (:
